Over time, the band evolved into the thirteen-piece "New York City Players", which also
featured keyboardist Gregory Johnson from East Coast, and were heavily influenced by groups like Funkadelic. Upon signing a contract, they changed their name to Cameo, and went on to record an astonishing seventeen albums. Cameo comes to perform in Amsterdam for a fourth time after the fantastic 1987 Escape gig, less impressive 1996 @Marcanti Plaza(bad location) gig and good 2001 @Drum Rhythm gig.
